[CLAIM 6] Duplicate copies

A single copy is not a copy. It is the original, with hope attached.

Nine lines, because the material worth duplicating refuses to sit in one place. Some of it is on desks, some on a machine in a back room, and an increasing share lives in accounts run by a platform that keeps them available without keeping a second copy on your behalf.

The accounts everybody assumes are handled

Availability is what a platform undertakes to provide. Preservation of what you put inside it is a separate undertaking that nobody made. Deleted items folders empty themselves, retention windows shut, and taking an account away carries off the post with it. The ledger has the same problem in a sharper form, since an import that goes in wrong has no button sized to undo it.

So the duplicates here run across the entire picture: desks and back rooms, the Microsoft side, the Google side, the books, and the directory arrangement that decides who is able to open any of it.

Availability is the platform's undertaking. A second copy is the one you make to yourself.

Rehearsal is the part most suppliers leave out

An untested duplicate is a conviction. It may well be a reasonable conviction, but it is not evidence, and evidence is what a serious customer is asking for when they ask whether recovery has ever been rehearsed.

The rehearsal line stands copies up on a rota and records the outcome and stamps a date against it. Problems then surface on a dull afternoon when nothing else is happening, which is the only sensible occasion to discover them.

Nine lines. Take whichever match what you genuinely run and leave the others. Storage is held in a shared pool instead of rationed out one machine at a time.

Working File History

N-able Cove, holding earlier states of live documents

Earlier versions of whichever documents are open today. The ordinary save is not the problem. The problem is the quotation that was right on Tuesday, is wrong by Thursday, and has been saved over four times in between by three different people.

  • Earlier states held for twenty eight days, so a bad save is recoverable.
  • Recovery works at the level of one document, with no machine to rebuild.
  • Run centrally, which spares anybody the job of remembering to switch it on.
Claimed forWindows workstations where documents change every day
ReducesSaved over work with no earlier state to fall back on

Workstation Image Backup

N-able Cove, imaging the machine instead of selecting folders

The entire machine rather than a chosen selection of folders. Once a drive fails, the question worth answering is how soon that person is productive again, and the answer improves enormously when the applications, the licences and the awkward undocumented settings all came back with the files.

  • Whole machine images taken off Windows, macOS and Linux workstations.
  • Storage held in a shared pool instead of rationed machine by machine.
  • Recovery onto the original hardware or onto whatever arrived to replace it.
Claimed forWorkstations that would be slow and irritating to rebuild by hand
ReducesDays spent reassembling a machine after a drive fails

Physical Server Backup

N-able Cove, with the database engine kept informed

That machine in the back room which every other machine leans on. Copies are taken with the database engine aware they are happening, which is the whole difference between something that restores and a directory of files that restores into an error.

  • Whole server images for Windows and Linux, taken while the server keeps working.
  • Database aware, so the result is coherent rather than merely present.
  • Pool sized for a server rather than for a desk machine.
Claimed forPhysical servers carrying accounting or trade specific systems
ReducesThe one failure that stops the whole business trading

Virtual Server Image Backup

N-able Cove, charged by guest and not by hypervisor

Identical protection for virtual servers, charged one guest at a time. Charging by guest keeps the invoice tracking what is genuinely running, so a densely packed host is not priced as though it were nearly idle.

  • Guest level images for virtual servers on Windows and on Linux.
  • Database aware, on the same footing as the physical line.
  • A single guest comes back alone, leaving the rest of the host undisturbed.
Claimed forVirtual servers on your hypervisor or on a hosted one
ReducesLosing a guest along with everything it was serving

Microsoft 365 Protection

N-able Cove, covering the Microsoft side

Keeping a tenant reachable and keeping what is inside it are separate undertakings, and only the first belongs to the platform. The deleted items folder duplicates nothing: it empties, windows close, and removing a leaver carries their post off as well.

  • Covers material inside Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams.
  • One message or one document recovered without touching anything else.
  • Pool measured per licensed user, which keeps the figure predictable.
Claimed forMicrosoft 365 tenants carrying mail and documents that matter
ReducesIrreversible loss through deletion, closed windows and departures

Google Workspace Protection

Dropsuite, working the Google side

Precisely the same argument, one platform to the left. Messages, stored documents, address books, diaries and task lists are duplicated and can be returned one at a time, which is the only sort of recovery anybody is ever glad to run.

  • Messages, stored documents, address books, diaries and task lists included.
  • Recovery proceeds item by item, so a single address book returns alone.
  • Runs against the tenant, with nothing for anybody to install.
Claimed forGoogle Workspace tenants of any size
ReducesMail and documents vanishing along with a removed account

QuickBooks Online Protection

Dropsuite, duplicating the ledger without pause

Everything else about a business can be reassembled from the ledger, and the ledger cannot be reassembled from anything else. A mistaken import or an enthusiastic bulk edit is genuinely painful to unpick by hand. This holds an uninterrupted duplicate and returns it in a single move.

  • An uninterrupted duplicate rather than an occasional manual export.
  • Recovery in a single move, charged per company file so several entities stay legible.
  • Earns its place on an ordinary Tuesday, not only after a catastrophe.

Entra ID Configuration Backup

Dropsuite, preserving the wiring instead of the contents

The mail is not the subject here. The arrangement behind the mail is. Membership, roles, policies and application consent decide who is able to reach what, and one careless adjustment there is far harder to spot than a missing document. This keeps the arrangement and reports when it shifts.

  • The directory arrangement held with no ceiling on retention.
  • Shifts reported, so an adjustment is noticed rather than merely archived.
  • Charged per tenant, since a directory is one object however many people sit in it.

Restore Verification

N-able Cove, demonstrating that the duplicate returns

A duplicate never tested is a conviction, not a control. This line stands copies up on a rota and records the outcome with a date stamped against it, so when an insurer or a large customer asks whether recovery has been rehearsed, the answer is a record instead of a shrug.

  • Recovery rehearsed on a rota against whichever systems you name.
  • The outcome filed and dated, ready for whoever comes asking.
  • Problems appear on a dull afternoon rather than during the real thing.

Where this claim stops

Worth reading twice. A claim with no stated boundary is one nobody bothered to examine.

  • A duplicate holds what was inside the scope at the moment it was taken. Whatever the schedule excluded is not in it.
  • The opening run reads everything once and is therefore heavy. Machines have to stay awake for it.
  • Recovery times follow the volume and the destination hardware. The figure you get is calculated against your configuration, not lifted out of a brochure.
  • Deliberate deletion, confirmed, remains deletion. Retention windows get agreed with you in advance so nobody is surprised later.
